Nyugodt szívvel merjük kijelenteni, hogy a 2018-as év legjobban várt gumija a Michelin Road szériájának kvintje, a Road 5. A legújabb családtag nevéből kimaradt a megszokott Pilot előtag, a franciák úgy gondolják, hogy bőven eléggé beszédes a Road elnevezés, a motorosok megértik, mi a különbség a Power szériához képest.

A kiindulási alap mondhatni tökéletes volt, a Road 4 korszakának legsikeresebb túragumijává vált, 2014-től 2017-ig 1,5 milliós darabszám került az utakra, melyből szép részt tesznek ki a magyar motorosok is - eláruljuk nektek, hogy tőlünk is Road 4-ből vittetek toronymagasan a legtöbbet. A Michelin ezzel igen magasra emelte a lécet úgy sokoldalúság, de még inkább hosszan tartó minőség tekintetében, melyre hazánkban is sok motoros különösen figyel. Gyakran hallunk vissza olyan panaszokat mi is, hogy amint kopni kezd a motorgumi, drasztikusan veszít tapadásából, ez a Michelinhez is eljutott és igen markánsan válaszoltak is rá.

Év elején a populáris méretek mind elérhetőek lesznek az R17.hu-n, a Trail és GT verziókra kell inkább majd várni, a Trail verzió 110/80R19+150/70R17 méretei ugyan már 2018. januárjától elérhetőek lesznek, de a vizes GS-re szerelhető 120/70R19+170/60R17 csak júniustól, míg a nehéz motorokra szánt GT verzió csak 2019-től válik elérhetővé a nagyközönség számára. Így az FJR-esek, K1600GT-ek és hasonlóan nagy súlyú motorokkal cirkálók kénytelenek lesznek még 2018-ban Road 4 GT-vel motorozni.
