A Michelin által szervezett és 2015 március 9-11 között lebonyolított hivatalos StarCross 5 bemutatóján vehettünk részt, mely során tesztelhettük a új motocross abroncsokat különböző körülmények között. Módunk volt az eltérő keverékek közötti különbségeket megtapasztalni, rengeteg útmutatót kaptunk a helyes nyomás kiválasztásához, mindamellett azt is megtapasztaltuk, hogyan is birkózik meg az abroncs egy 125ccm 2T és akár egy 450 ccm 4T cross motor által nyújtott erővel.

A gyakorlati tesztelés előtt természetesen részletes prezentáció formájában is bemutatták számunkra az új abroncs azon technikai újításait, melyek segítségével az elődjeinél még sikeresebb abroncs került a felhasználók köreibe.
Starcross 5 - Új karkasz Átfogóan jellemző az új vonal minden egyes talajtípusra specifikált abroncsára az, hogy egy merőben új karkasz segítségével sikerült a gumik súlyát 15%-al csökkenteni, mely pozitív hatással van a rugózatlan tömegre. Ez nagy segítség a motoros számára, mivel ezáltal egy könnyeb irányíthatóságot kap motorunk, amivel máris gyorsabbá válhatunk. Az előző modellekben használt 3 nylon rétegből álló szerkezeti felépítést teljes egészében leváltották, és egy merőben új, 2 rétegű poliészterből álló felépítést alkalmaztak. Az új anyaghasználatnak és ezen anyag tulajdonságainak (sűrűbb szövés alkalmazható) köszönhetően egy sokkal ellenállóbb és mindemellett lágyabb szerkezetet kapunk, mely a Michelin egy új technológiája, az úgynevezett ACT technológia. Több vonóerőt képes átvinni az abroncs a talajra, a lágyabb szerkezet miatt pedig jobb rugózást és pontosabb visszajelzést kapunk. Kevesebb az abroncs visszarúgása, ezáltal pedig könnyebben és jobban tudjuk irányítani motorunkat. Szintén az új karkasznak köszönhetően az abroncs nyomása is szélesebb tartományok közt változtatható, a Starcross 5 a megszokottnál magasabb légnyomáson, 1,2 bar értéken is használható, anélkül hogy ez bármiféle negatív hatással lenne annak tulajdonságaira. A nagyobb érték ellenére nem veszít a tapadásából, irányíthatóságából, mindemellett csökkenti annak a valószínűségét, hogy leforduljon a felni pereméről. Az abroncsok melegítése és bekoptatása immár egy fölöslegessé vált művelet sor, felszerelés után azonnal 100%-os teljesítményt nyújt.

A Starcross 5 "M"-je

A Starcross 5 négy keverékben érhető el, beszéljünk sorban mindegyikről egy keveset. A Soft felhasználástást tekintve laza és sáros körülmények között alkalmazható mintázat. Az abroncs esetében különlegesség a mintázatok közötti úgynevezett „gumi-hidak” használata, melynek gyakorlati szerepe is igen fontos. Nem csak az öntisztuló képességet segíti elő, de a kanyarokban is igen nagy szerepet játszik a stabilitás megőrzésé érdekében. Újdonság még, hogy a legelterjedtebb MX méretekben is megjelent ez a keverék. A Medium a Soft abroncsnál keményebb, kevésbé laza szerkezetű talajtípusra lett kifejlesztve. Itt már elhagyták a „gumi-hidak” alkalmazását, de mivel ez az abroncs is kiválóan használható azon körülmények között melyre a soft az alkalmasabb, itt is jelen vannak az öntisztulást elő segítő rendszerek. Ilyen az abroncs mintázatán lévő bordázottság és az „M” betű alkalmazása, ami használat során az abroncs torzulásának következében egyszerű mozgást végez, ezáltal a sár betapadása ellen van hasznos szerepe. A Sand mintázat kizárólag homokkll borított pályára alkalmas. Speciális mintázatának köszönhetően ez az abroncs képes a legtöbb vonóerőt átvinni a homokos talajra, mindamellett a homokot azonnal eltávolítja a blokkok közül. A Hard sziklával, kővel borított felületre lett kifjelesztve. Mintázatának és anyagösszetételének köszönhetően ellenáll a legkeményebb megpróbáltatásoknak is.

A gyakorlati tesztelés előtt kapott instrukciók után azonnal indultunk a MSC Bauschheim-i cross pályára, ahol kezdetét vehette az éles körülmények közötti próbatétel. Az időjárás kiváló volt, 13-15°C hőmérséklet és szikrázó napsütés fogadott bennünket. A motorpaletta igen széles volt, különböző márkák típusaival próbálhattuk az eltérő keverékeket. A teljesség igénye nélkül kipróbálhattuk a Husqvarna Tc 125, Fc 250,350,450. KTM SX-F 250,350,450 KTM 250,350 EXC-F és 150 SX, Suzuki RM-Z 250, 450 illetve a Yamaha YZ 250F és 450F motorokat. A pálya adottságaiból kifolyólag a soft és a medium abroncsokat volt lehetőségünk tesztelni, ezeket külön-külön, vagy keverve egy gépen. A más-más keverékkel szerelt motorok esetében elől soft, hátul pedig a medium variánsokat próbálgathattuk. A nap kezdeti szakaszában még igen sáros körülmények fogadtak minket, így a soft-soft abronccsal szerelt motorok futottak többet, 20 perc hosszúságú etapokra osztva. A motorok tömlővel voltak szerelve, mousse és tubliss használata ezen a teszten nem volt „megengedett” így maradt a hagyományos szerelés. Az első néhány körben elsősorban a pálya megismerése volt a fő szempont, csak ezután fokoztuk a tempót.

Starcross 5 Gumihidak Az első benyomások igen pozitívak voltak, valóban egy kezesbárányt farag a motorból az új StarCross 5 család. Nem volt jellemző az abroncs sárral való telítődése, kiválóan működnek az öntisztulást segítő „gumi-hidak” és a magasabb nyomás ellenére valóban nem érezni a motort nehezebben irányíthatónak. A nap elején minden résztvevőnek kötelezően a 1,2 bar-os nyomással kellett próbálnia a gumikat, annak ellenére, hogy sokak számára ez nem volt megszokott, hisz mindenki az alacsonyabb 1 bar körüli értékhez van szokva. A nap folyamán a pálya és az idő is egyre csak javulást mutatott, így a Medium abroncsok nyertek leginkább teret. Mivel már nem volt szükség a sáros körülményekkel való „küzdelemre”, így ezek az abroncsok kapták a főbb figyelmet. Természetesen sokan használtuk ilyenkor is a soft abroncsot, és itt el kell mondanom pár szóban, mivel az új innovatív fejlesztési iránynak köszönhetően az abroncsok felhasználási területe nagymértékben bővült, így még a profi versenyzők sem éreztek akkora különbséget az abroncsok közözött, ami azt indokolná, hogy azonnal egy másik keverék után nézzünk. A nap második szakaszában különös figyelmet fordítottak arra, hogy eltérő nyomásértékekkel használjuk az egyforma keverékű abroncsokat. Itt jegyezném meg, hogy működik CCT (Comfort Casing Technology ) technológia, érzésre nincs érzékelhető differencia a keményebbre fújt és a puhább abroncs között. Ellenben a kanyar kigyorsítási szakaszánál kiszámíthatóbban viselkedik a motor, több vonóerőt tudunk hasznosítani, emiatt pedig hatékonyabb gyorsulás érhető el. Féktávokon a motor teljes mértékben stabil marad, a bekormányzási fázisban és a kanyar ívének követésekor abszolút partnerünk az új gumi. Pár sorban összefoglalva egy igen sikeres és élményekkel teli tesztelésen vehettünk részt, melynek során ismét kiderült, hogy a fejlesztőmérnökök és az őket segítő versenyzők igen hatékony munkát végeztek. Létrehoztak egy olyan széles felhasználási területtel felvértezett motocross gumiabroncs-családot, mely egyaránt kielégíti a hobby motorosok és a profi versenyzők igényeit. Reméljük tetszett ez a kis rövid beszámolónk és Te is az új Michelin StarCross 5-el fogod kezdeni az új szezont.
