A SCORPION™ család és a szegmens eredete

Maga a SCORPION szó hallatán a tapasztalt motoros egyből a Pirelli család azon gumijaira asszociál, amelyeket off road használatra terveztek mind motoros, mind autós versenyekhez. A SCORPION™ sorozat darabjait off road autóversenyeken használták először (pl. Motocross World Championship), amelyeken 30 évig folyamatosan vezető pozícióban volt a maga 66 világbajnoki címével. Pikes Peak). A Ducati partnereként a Pirelli létrehozta a SCORPION™ Sync-et, az első utcai sportgumit bütykös kinézettel 120/70-17 és 180/55-17 méretekben.

Egy évtizeddel később a Pirelli a SCORPION™ Trail sorozat piacra dobásával ismételten az élvonalba került. A hátsó gumira ez esetben dual-compound 190/55-17” méret került, amely egy új mérföldkő volt az utcai enduro motorkerékpárok generációjában.

2015-ben a Ducati az új Multistrada 1200 bevezetésével ismét a már jól bevált Pirelli gumikra alapozott, különösen az új SCORPION™ Trail II-re.

Újabban a motorgyártásban egy másabb – és sok tekintetben változatosabb - trend figyelhető meg, amely egyre érzékenyebben reagál az úgynevezett „scrambler” jelenségre. A régi scrambler motorok - melyek eredete egészen a hetvenes évekig nyúlik vissza – előkerültek a feledés homályából. Az eddig a raktárak és dohos garázsok sötétjében tárolt motorok leporolva, felújítva, büszkén tértek vissza az útra. Ugyanakkor olyan új, modern és felülvizsgált változatokat is bevezettek a gyártók, amelyek kimagasló értékesítési rátájukkal (pl. Ducati Srambler project), az egyik legtöbbet eladott típussá váltak.

Végül, de nem utolsósorban rengeteg vásárló talált bennük fantáziát és inspirációt, így elkezdték utcai motorjukat modern és attraktív scramblerré alakítani.

A futófelület mintázata

Mint már említettük a SCORPION™ RALLY STR futófelület mintázata kifejezetten bütykös, ami on road használatra lett optimalizálva. Utóbbi jellemzőjét annak köszönheti, hogy a megnövekedett gumifelület nagyobb területen érintkezik a talajjal a tapadási zónában.

Az abroncson a bütyköknek egy újfajta geometriája és magasság-szélesség arány figyelhető meg, ami vadonatújnak számít a piacon. Ennek köszönhetően a Pirelli úgy ért el fokozott menetstabilitást közúton, hogy közben nem vesztett off roadon a tapadásából.
